Machame Route 7 Days 6 Nights
This is probably the most beautiful route up Kilimanjaro. With lovely gradual ascent through forest you emerge to see wide views of the moorland on Shira Plateau, Kibo and the Western Breach. The Machame route is also known as the 'Whiskey' route, because of being a tough climb, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. About 50% of all climbers, and most seasoned climbers, choose the Machame route. The Machame Route climb can be done in a minimum of six days (5 nights) on the mountain. However, we recommend to take seven days (6 nights), for a better altitude acclimatization. The trek begins at Machame Gate, located in the Southern base of mountain, which is just a short drive from Moshi.
